JOB SUMMARY
Professional level position that coordinates with other departments to provide guidance and direction for all digital and print communication activities. The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for supporting OKI’s overall communications and engagement with management and the public at large. The Digital Media Specialist will also create and assist in the creation of new content based on the OKI team’s transportation-related work that informs and engages our audience.
The Digital Media Specialist will work closely with the rest of OKI’s communications team to expertly communicate to the public. This role will also coordinate with various departments to meet objectives and craft communication that is directed towards the public and key stakeholders. The Digital Media Specialist – Web Sites will be responsible for creating various OKI reports and accessibility compliance coordination and implementation.
Essential Functions:
Design and Development
- Design, maintain and manage all agency web sites, including troubleshooting
- Create, maintain and monitor digital forms and submissions for a variety of purposes such as funding application submittals, speaker requests, contact forms.
- Improves the quality and volume of traffic to organizational websites by implementing proven SEO techniques.
- Create materials in compliance with ADA. Review web sites and proposed and published materials for ADA compliance and remediate as needed. May conduct staff training on creating accessible content.
- Design digital media campaigns according to agency goals
- Creates and maintains brand assets and style guides, per OKI processes, and work to improve brand presence
- Creates and manages various OKI reports and digital publications
- Collaborate with other departments on development of dashboards, apps and maps
- Create, coordinate and manage the creation of digital content which may include e-newsletter, website, blogs, press releases and podcasts, infographics, videos, etc.
- Initiates, takes, edits and utilizes photos and videography
Engagement
- Oversee all web site activity, includes generating, editing and publishing daily content across all sites
- Liaise with all departments and management to coordinate messaging and direct responses
- Suggest strategies and methods for improvement
- Perform activities supporting a variety of OKI engagement and outreach activities
- Regularly track engagement and provide critical updates to leadership on messaging, public response and engagement metrics
- Supports and provides backup for media relations and social media.
Analysis
- Develop campaigns, goals and tactics of for the web sites and various email marketing, surveys and more and analyze, review and report on effectiveness
- Develop and monitor ROI and KPIs for all current and future web sites
- Stay up-to-date with digital media technologies and latest trends
Organizational Objectives
- Present data driven updates on all digital communication and digital media strategies.
- Identify opportunities for search engine and web site optimization.
- Provide research, writing, editing and design support across digital media channels as assigned
- Complete work in a manner to meet accessibility standards
- Assist in budgeting and POs
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Digital Media, marketing, planning or related field.
- Minimum of 1-5 years experience in web sites, digital communications, technology or planning.
- Expertise and experience in WordPress, themes and plugins
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and web analytics.
- Experience with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
- Experience in analytics, optimization and tools to monitor web site activity, engagement and performance.
- Knowledge in principles, practices and current trends in graphic design and visual communications.
- Knowledge of accessibility.
- Natural ability to quickly learn new digital tools and skills related to existing work.
- Knowledge of web design and web platforming for marking and corporate communication purposes.
- Experience managing a budget and ability to reconcile departmental expenditures.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively on a team, to multitask, and to manage projects.
